What is Compassionate Communication?
Compassionate Communication (CC) is another term for what is also known as Nonviolent Communication (aka NVC), the work of Marshall B. Rosenberg and the Center for Nonviolent Communication, www.cnvc.org
At its core it is about speaking from the heart and listening with the heart. It is about making a genuine connection through communicating clearly and authentically what is true and real, and what is "alive" in the moment.
When we are able to make such a connection, relationships flow better, we can achieve a mutual understanding and it becomes much easier, and sometimes natural or obvious, to reach win-win situations where everybodies needs are met.
Whether it is used in the family, with a partner, in the work place or with somebody you just met, Compassionate Communication increases the quality of the connection and supports clearer and warmer relationships.
We are so used to blame and verbal violence that we often don't even notice it. We just don't feel good and our relationships with others (and our selves) suffer as a consequence.
Compassionate Communication offers the skills and tools to change the habits and take your connections and interactions with other people to a new level. This allows for a new sense of freedom and openness to enter your life - a richer life where it is easier to experience more of what you desire.
How it Works -
Compassionate Communication works on many levels and in many ways. These are only a few of them:
- In daily use it provides clear open communication without blame and without the verbal violence we are so used to we often don't even notice. One of the benefits of this is that many common conflicts and painful situations simply do not arise
- It gives you a tool to handle difficult communication
- It helps resolve conflict
- As you embrace CC more and more into your life, the way you "see" both yourself and other people will change towards greater acceptance and compassion. This change allows you to move into a greater feeling of happiness and improve your relationships.
